Providence-OASIS
is our drop-in center located near the Providence Pawtucket
city line on N. Main st.
Providence
is a diversified city and our members are a very diversified
group. From our experience, we've found that people who suffer from mental illness have much to
offer in ways of time, talent, enthusiasm etc. We wholeheartedly invite those
who are eager to share their talents to become involved in our
organization.
We seek to empower our
membership both individually and collectively on issues impacting on their
self-interest and recovery. By speaking with a clear and unified voice, we can
foster and encourage a sense of community, compassion and pride.
We provide peer support, to inform and educate people about the
stigmatization of mental illness, and to positively affect the lives of our
fellow consumers through legislative action and other advocacy campaigns.
In
realizing our mission we affirm the following core values:
Members can attend peer
support groups at the MHCA advocacy and social centers.
Topics include:
• abuse &
trauma recovery (for women only) • recovery through art • double trouble
and more
Attendance is
optional and confidential
